FAQs Staff member talking with resident

Our Policies answer many questions about Reside Care procedures. These are available to view in the policies section of the website.

How does a Care Home differ from a Care Home with Nursing?

Reside Care home is a comfortable, homely environment where residents can relax, feel at home, talk with friends and become involved in conversation and activities as much as they wish. Giving residents personal one-to-one attention and opportunities for mental and physical stimulation where they live helps them to maintain awareness and to stay alert in the last years of their lives. Where medications can sometimes be resorted to in Nursing homes to

deal with issues such as anxiety, we at the Care home feel that more natural solutions can be effective – such as talking to them about their concerns and evaluating ways to make them feel important and happier.  A Reside home is primarily ‘a home’ for our residents. We provide the 24 hour supervision and care and the necessary arrangements for their day to day living – including  doctors visits, hair dressers , meals and medications and entertainment etc. that a person would need to make their lives fulfilling and comfortable. We do not have Qualified Nurses on duty but can access input from the local Community Nurses if required.

Can my mother/father needing care bring their own furniture and possessions?

Yes. As long as the furniture is fire resistant and there is space in the bedroom, we encourage residents to bring familiar possessions to make them feel more at home.

Items of great value should be avoided as damage cannot be guaranteed against.

When we visit our family member / friend in the home, can we take them out?

Yes of course. There are plenty of cafes, pubs, shops and walks in the local area and we encourage stimulating outings for residents. Reside have a mini bus and plan trips for residents on a regular basis.

Do I need to book an appointment to come and view the home?

No. You can turn up at any time during the day and we will be happy to show you around and talk to you about our services.

Can we be provided with meals and refreshments when we visit our family member / friend?

Yes. We will offer refreshments during your visit and you can have a meal for a small fee with the residents if you give us prior notice.

What are the costs involved?

Costs are dependent upon the individual and the level of care needed for the individual. It is also dependent on whether a resident receives funding from the council. We would be happy to arrange a time with you to discuss your requirements in more detail relating to fees.
